IRIS of New Haven hosts workshop for NHA students who are part of the Facing History Council and Model United Nations.

First, Dennis Wilson, an employee at IRIS, and Maher, a refugee from Iraq who has settled in New Haven, presented on the myths and facts of refugees internationally and locally, shared ways for students to get involved, and Maher told his personal journey from being a target in Iraq because of his work as a translator for the U.S army, to being an active member the New Haven arts community as a trained photographer and filmmaker. Then, they engaged in a Q&A with students.
