Oil Drum Art

All New Haven public schools competed in the Oil Drum Art Project to design and paint old oil drums to use as street-side trash bins.

This year’s theme was “New Haven Firsts”. New Haven Academy’s art department produced one of the seven winners.

Our theme was based on the Bradley Company Confectioners of New Haven who invented the lollipop.

Our renovated “new” school occupies the corner of Orange and Bradley Streets.

The original lollipop design was created by freshman, Dayana Lituma-Solis. The winning drums are presently on display in the atrium of New Haven City Hall.

A reception with Mayor, Toni Harp was held on May 27th.
